HBHM
Prior to joining CCIL, many residents have had little to no preventive health care. Persistent and severe poverty has put our residents at high risk for a myriad of health conditions. CCIL has responded to these needs and expanded our health program into a comprehensive on-site clinic: Healthy Bodies – Healthy Minds.
Our services include:
- Screening and treatment of physical conditions;
- Weekly group and individual therapy sessions with psychologists;
- Blood pressure screenings;
- Counseling referrals and pharmacological treatment for depression, anxiety and other psychiatric disorders;
- Identification of diabetes and initiation of treatment;
- Seminars specifically geared toward women’s health issues;
- Healthy kids check-ups
The clinic is another bridge to the external community service health care system. CCIL enjoys collaborations with both John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County and Rush Medical Center for nurse practitioner services and physician consultation. Numerous leading educational institutions provide psychological services via doctorate-level students and an experienced certified addictions counselor who facilitates addiction recovery groups. CCIL's clinic has provided more than 1,400 health assessments since its inception in 2000.
